“I’m Devastated by the Passing of My Great Friend Daddy Lumba” – Ing. Kwabena Agyepong Cries

Former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong expresses deep sorrow over the death of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, praising his music as a timeless force that united generations and brought joy to millions.

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ghanaian highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba.

In a heartfelt post shared on his social media account, Ing. Agyepong described the late musician as not only a legendary figure in Ghanaian music but also a dear personal friend whose songs became part of the emotional fabric of the nation.

“I’m devastated by the passing of my great friend and highlife legend Daddy Lumba,” Ing. Agyepong wrote.

He lauded Lumba’s exceptional artistry, noting that his timeless melodies and powerful lyrics had the rare ability to unite Ghanaians across generations, evoking joy, reflection, and national pride.

“His timeless melodies and powerful lyrics touched the hearts of generations, uniting us in joy and reflection,” he added.


Daddy Lumba, who passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at age 60 after a short illness leaves behind a monumental legacy that spans more than three decades, over 34 albums, and countless songs that have defined moments in Ghanaian life—love, heartbreak, celebration, and even political milestones.

For Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, this loss is deeply personal. His tribute echoes the sentiments of many across the country who have turned to Daddy Lumba’s music for comfort, wisdom, and celebration through the years.

In a touching close to his message, Ing. Agyepong invoked a spiritual blessing for the departed soul:

“May the Lord Almighty grant his beautiful soul peaceful eternal rest.”

Daddy Lumba’s influence extended far beyond entertainment. He was a cultural force—a voice that sang what many could not say, a symbol of authenticity, and a musical bridge across generations.
