GRNMA Threatens Strike Action After Disappointing Meeting with Government Representatives.
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has announced that they will decide on their next day’s meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission on July 15, 2025. This decision follows a meeting with the parliamentary select committee on health, where the government revealed plans to feature only two of their allowances in the mid-year budget.
The GRNMA expressed disappointment and frustration with the government’s position, stating that it is unacceptable and undermines their welfare as nurses and midwives in Ghana. They are urging the employer to reconsider its position and include all priority items in the mid-year budget.
The association’s subsequent actions will be based on the outcome of the meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and they have warned that they will take necessary steps if their concerns are not addressed.
The GRNMA is calling for commitment and good faith in the engagement and has expressed gratitude to the parliamentary select committee on health for their efforts towards finding an amicable resolution to the implementation of their collective agreement.
The association remains committed to protecting the interests of nurses and midwives in Ghana and has assured its members that they are in this fight together.
