Government urged to use technology to reduce road accident

To reduce road accidents in Ghana, leverage technology by deploying AI-powered surveillance systems and speed cameras to enforce traffic laws, install mandatory GPS trackers on commercial vehicles to monitor driver behavior and rest periods, improve digital driver’s licensing with built-in monitoring, and enhance emergency response systems with digital tools for swift accident response, this is according to Mr. Samuel Kwame Adomako, the Chief executive officer of Narrowlite international company.

According to him, government can implement AI-powered CCTV cameras and traffic cameras at intersections and on highways to detect violations like speeding and running red lights, thereby eliminating human discretion and reducing corruption opportunities.

He said, Government can mandate GPS tracking on all public and commercial vehicles to monitor speed, enforce rest periods for long-haul drivers, and penalize offenders.

we can utilize technology in road construction to improve infrastructure, including smart road signs and better lighting, to create safer driving conditions.

Addressing the media at a Robotics program in Obuase Senior High Technical institute, Mr. Kwame Adomako said, though the country has a road challenge but government can use technology devices to reduce road accident.

Meanwhile the Robotics coach at Obuase Senior High Technical institute Mr. Solomon Nchor said, since the Robotics institute was established at obuase, students at the school has invented some devices to monitor over speeding and other road errors by drivers.

By combining these technological solutions, Ghana can significantly improve road safety, reduce fatalities, and foster a more responsible driving culture. He said
