Gomoa East NADMO Takes Decisive Action to Combat Flooding

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Gomoa East District has embarked on a massive dredging exercise and demolition of unauthorized structures in waterways at Fetteh Kakraba to address recurring flooding issues.

The operation, which follows a recent heavy downpour that submerged over 400 houses, saw more than eight structures pulled down to improve drainage flow and prevent future flooding.

Gomoa East NADMO Director, Hassan Hamadu, stated that the demolition is part of a larger effort to protect lives and property.

He emphasized that the exercise would be carried out without fear or favor, warning that any building sitting in a waterway would be removed.

Omankrado of Fetteh Kakraba, Nana Yaw Kudu-Manu, threw his support behind the initiative, urging the Assembly and NADMO to continue demolishing all structures obstructing water flow.

He stressed that preserving human lives and safeguarding property must be the top priority.

The NADMO-led operation forms part of a renewed commitment to tackle the root causes of flooding in the district and prevent future disasters.

The exercise aims to ensure that waterways are clear of obstructions, reducing the risk of flooding and protecting lives and property.
