Ghana’s Lithium Mining Agreement Update
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has informed Parliament that a revised proposal for a lithium mining agreement between the government and Barari DV Ghana Limited will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval.
The agreement, signed in October 2023, pertains to the extraction of lithium at Ewoyaa in the Mfantseman constituency.
According to Minister Buah, the agreement was revised due to changes in the international market price of lithium.
The price of lithium was reportedly around $3,000 before the agreement was signed by the previous government.
The Minister’s assurance comes in response to a query from Hon. Ebenezer Prince Arhin, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman constituency, regarding efforts to ratify the Ewoyaa lithium agreement.
Hon. Arhin expressed satisfaction with the Minister’s response, highlighting the potential for employment opportunities for constituents.
