Ghana Records 1,504 Road Crash Fatalities, 8,300 Injuries in First Half of 2025

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has released alarming statistics on road crashes in Ghana.

According to the report, 1,504 people lost their lives and 8,300 others sustained injuries in over 7,000 road crashes between January and June 2025.

The statistics indicate that a total of 7,289 road crashes were recorded nationwide, involving 12,354 vehicles and motorcycles. Additionally, 1,301 pedestrians were knocked down during the period.

On a daily basis, the statistics reveal that eight lives are lost, 40 road crashes occur nationwide, 46 people are injured, and 69 vehicles and motorcycles are involved in crashes.

The NRSA is calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and increased public education to curb the rising number of road accidents.

The Authority emphasizes the need for a collective national response to address this pressing issue.
