Ghana Hosts Faith in Action Against Modern Slavery Conference: A Call to Unite.

Accra, Ghana, October 6-8, 2025 – The Faith in Action Against Modern Slavery Conference, hosted by the Global Freedom Network (GFN), brought together diverse stakeholders to combat modern slavery.

The event marked a decade of GFN’s efforts to eradicate forced labor, human trafficking, and forced marriage.

Participants included religious leaders, traditional authorities, survivors, community groups, and government officials.

They shared stories, progress, and strategies to tackle modern slavery, which affects millions, particularly in Africa.

The conference showcased faith-based initiatives and emphasized collective action. Organizations exhibited their work, exchanging ideas and best practices.

Key partners included Talitha Kum Ghana, Tostan International, and the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya.

A team activity led by Tostan International yielded the name “KENTE” (Unity in Diversity), symbolizing the group’s commitment to respect, inclusion, and collaboration.

Participants stressed the importance of cultural sensitivity, community engagement, and restoring dignity to victims.

Survivors bravely shared their stories, emphasizing that the fight against human trafficking is about protecting people’s dignity, freedom, and human rights.

The conference affirmed that united efforts can lead to lasting change and ultimately end modern slavery.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging participants to work together to challenge harmful norms, support survivors, and promote human dignity.

The journey ahead requires collective effort, but with shared purpose and solidarity, ending human trafficking is achievable.
