GES Directs SHS Heads to Refund WASSCE Practical Fees.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered all Senior High School (SHS) heads to immediately refund any fees collected from students or parents for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) practicals.
This decision follows the government’s directive to fully absorb the cost of this year’s WASSCE practical examinations.
The GES has emphasized the need for proper documentation of the refunds. School heads are required to:
– Issue official receipts for each refund
– Notify their respective Regional Directors once the refund process is complete
The GES explained that the directive is intended to relieve financial pressure on students and their families and ensure that no student is prevented from taking the exams due to an inability to pay.
The statement warned that any failure to comply with the directive will be treated as a serious violation of official instructions and may result in administrative sanctions.
