Galamseyers Targeted in Deadly Armed Robbery Attack at Aketekyieso

A violent armed robbery incident has claimed the life of one small-scale miner, while another is fighting for survival after being attacked at Aketekyieso in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when two brothers, Martin Issah and Daniel Issah, were ambushed by unknown gunmen while returning from a mining site at Adomanu.

The attackers demanded their gold detector machine, and a struggle ensued, resulting in Martin being shot in the face and dying instantly.

Daniel sustained gunshot wounds but managed to escape and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby health facility. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, while police investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators

The Assembly Member for the Aketechieso-Amamuom-Anakyirem Electoral Area, Krobea Asante, has described the attack as alarming and is calling for increased police presence in the area to prevent further loss of lives.

“The security situation here is becoming worrying. I’m appealing to the police to intensify patrols, especially around mining communities, to prevent further loss of lives,” he said.
