Five Remanded Over GH¢2.3m and $191,900 in Fake Notes
Five individuals have been arrested and remanded in connection with the printing and distribution of fake GH¢200 and $100 notes, totaling GH¢2.3 million and $191,900, respectively.

The accused are Shubham Sharma (General Manager), James Mozu Bonaparte (graphic designer), Prince Owusu Ahenkorah (photographer/video director), Jonathan Kwame Appiah (graphic designer), and Solomon Adjetey Adjei (graphic designer).
They were jointly charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, with Sharma, Bonaparte, and Ahenkorah facing an additional charge of possession of forged notes. Appiah and Adjei are charged with uttering forged notes.
According to sources, Sharma allegedly stole $230,000 from an Accra-based businessman’s bedroom safe and replaced it with counterfeit Ghana cedis and US dollars. A search at the company’s cash office uncovered the fake notes.

The accused were arrested following intelligence received on June 16, 2025. During a search, security personnel retrieved five bundles of fake GH¢200 notes from Ahenkorah, who later mentioned Appiah as his accomplice.

The court has remanded the accused into lawful custody to reappear on July 3, 2025, for further investigations.
