A fire outbreak at the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School in Koforidua was swiftly contained by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) this evening, averting what could have been a major disaster.

The blaze, which broke out at the housemaster’s residence, destroyed the roof, ceiling, furniture, home appliances, and other personal items.

Thanks to the timely response of the GNFS, the nearby boys’ dormitory was saved from the flames.

The distress call was received at 6:24 PM, and within 10 minutes, the first of two fire engines arrived at the scene.

Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 7:24 PM and fully extinguished it by 8:29 PM.

Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were recorded. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault in the ceiling of the housemaster’s residence.

Kudos to the brave firefighters for their quick action!.
