Fatal Crash at Ejisu Leaves One Dead, 30 Injured

 

A devastating head-on collision between two minibuses at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region has claimed one life and left 30 others injured, including two final-year students.

The accident, which occurred on Monday, January 12, 2026, was reportedly caused by brake failure on one of the vehicles.

The vehicles involved were a Toyota Hiace (AS 3552-20) and a Ford minivan (AW 3264-21), which collided on the Kumasi-Ejisu highway.

The injured, including a nursing student and a senior high school student, were rushed to Living Waters Hospital for treatment.

According to Dr. Gabriel Sekyi Kwofie, Medical Director of the hospital, one person, a septuagenarian, died upon arrival, while 11 others are undergoing surgery.

The hospital has also appealed for help in identifying the deceased.

Eyewitnesses have called for traffic lights to be installed at the intersection to prevent similar accidents in the future.
