Youths Protest Against Zijin Mining Company in Eastern Region.

Youths Protest Against Minding,Concerned youth from 10 affected mining communities in the Birim North Municipal of the Eastern Region have demonstrated against Zijin Mining Company (formerly Newmont Akyem Mines) over alleged unfair treatment.

The youth are demanding a share in the company’s policy for indigenes of the affected communities.

They had previously petitioned the company’s leadership and the Municipal Chief Executive but claim their concerns have not been addressed.

The demonstration began on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, around 2 am.
