Denugu Cries Out for Water Aid as New Chief Takes Helm.

A pressing plea has emerged from Denugu, Ghana, where newly enskinned Chief Inspector I.K. Winnam Kosong I is urgently calling for assistance to address the community’s severe water crisis .

The traditional area has been grappling with a broken mechanized water system since 2004, forcing residents, particularly women and children, to trek long distances to fetch water.

The situation worsens in the dry season, with water sources often shared with cattle and other animals, heightening the risk of waterborne diseases.

Chief Kosong I is appealing to the government, Minister, MP, and MCE for Garu to lend support in repairing or replacing the faulty water system.

He is also reaching out to philanthropists, stakeholders, and NGOs for aid, emphasizing that his efforts alone are insufficient to address the crisis.

“The mechanized water supplies which were built in 2004 are no longer functional, and all efforts to repair them have been unsuccessful,” the chief stated.

“We fear that diseases may hit us if we don’t get access to clean drinking water.”

The new chief’s plea underscores the need for collective action to address the community’s pressing needs and ensure a better future for Denugu’s residents.
