Couple Arrested for Allegedly Beating 13-Year-Old Daughter to Death in Kokrobite
A heart-wrenching incident has shaken the Kokrobite community in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
A couple, identified as Issah Mohammed and Yaa Grace, has been arrested for allegedly beating their 13-year-old daughter, Celestine, to death over accusations of eating her younger brother’s food.
According to reports, the abuse began when Yaa Grace informed Issah that Celestine had eaten food belonging to a younger sibling.
Enraged, Issah allegedly beat Celestine with a cane, shovel, and cutlass, causing severe internal injuries. The couple then locked her in a separate room without food or water, where she reportedly died the following day.
Suspicious neighbors alerted the police, leading to the arrest of both suspects.
The Kokrobite District Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident, and the body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Relatives of Celestine’s biological mother expressed outrage, citing a history of abuse by Mohammed.
Justina Acquah, a family member, confirmed that Mohammed had divorced Celestine’s mother due to his violent tendencies and demanded justice for Celestine.
This tragic incident highlights the need for increased vigilance and reporting of child abuse cases. The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to report all forms of child abuse and domestic violence promptly.
