Chieftaincy title is not for sale in Nkusukum Traditional Council–Paramount Chief to critics

The Paramount Chief of Nkusukum Traditional Council in the Mfantseman Municipality has firmly stated that chieftaincy titles in the council are not for sale.

He emphasized that any individual who becomes a chief is chosen based on merit and qualifications through traditional processes, without any form of bribery or payment.

According to Paramount Chief Okogyeaman Okese Essandoh IX, the council’s achievements, including development projects such as hospital beds for Saltpond Government Hospital and the establishment of a Victoria Even Center, have come through collective efforts tied to the celebration of the Odambia Festival.

He rejected critics’ claims that the festival, despite being celebrated for over 40 years, has yielded no development.

The Chief called on the youth to actively support the upcoming 2025 Odambia Festival scheduled for October across all communities in the Nkusukum Traditional Council, particularly in Saltpond, as it plays a significant role in fostering development.

During the coronation of Nana Adu Gyamfi I, as the Domfrehen of Nkusukum Traditional Area, the new chief pledged to promote development and unity among the people.

Despite not expecting to become a chief, he promised to lead peaceful campaigns, unite the youth both locally and in the Diaspora, and resolve disputes between youths and chiefs to ensure harmony in the traditional area.
