Chiefs and Residents Cry Out for School Building as Vehicles Claim Innocent Pupils’ Lives in Abura Tetsi

Chiefs and residents of Abura Tetsi in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District are raising alarm over the lack of a school building in their community, which has led to tragic deaths of innocent pupils knocked down by vehicles. Children are forced to walk long distances to nearby communities for education, exposing them to grave dangers, especially along the busy highway.

According to Nana Okogyeaman Oprepeh X, Chief of Abura Tetsi, the community—which has a population of over 1,000—does not have a school building.

This situation is particularly dangerous for the children.

He explained that the community lies along a highway, and pupils often walk several kilometers daily in search of education.

Unfortunately, many innocent children have lost their lives due to speeding vehicles while trying to reach schools in neighboring areas.

The Chief expressed deep concern over the negative impact the absence of a local school has had on the community.

Despite the challenges, the residents have proactively reshaped all the inner roads without government assistance.

Nana Okogyeaman also revealed the community’s commitment to education, highlighting plans to establish a community computer library for the pupils.

In a bid to support infrastructural development, the community has allocated a vast land parcel for the government to construct at least a kindergarten block.

The Chief appealed earnestly to the government to provide infrastructural support to improve educational access and safety for their children.

Addressing the Abura Testi Festival celebration, Nana Budukuma V, Nifahene of the Abora Traditional Area, speaking on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Abura State, called for peace among the people of Abura.

He emphasized that the Chiefs are committed to resolving any chieftaincy disputes in the traditional area and pledged to ensure steady development in the Abura Testi community through the cooperation of chiefs and residents.

Nana Budukuma V also appealed to the government to support the community with much-needed infrastructural development.Nana Budukuma V (Nifahene) said
