Buduburam Maczat Down Residents Demand Better Infrastructure.
Residents and traditional leaders of Buduburam Maczat Down in the Gomoa East District have taken to the streets to protest the lack of proper drainage systems and motorable roads in their area.
The community is plagued by persistent flooding, which has disrupted daily life and affected schoolchildren’s ability to attend classes.
The protesters attribute the flooding to the absence of a functional drainage system, which has resulted in water accumulation and damage to properties.
Despite recent efforts by the assembly to dredge the gutters, the issue persists, with heaps of sand left by the roadside exacerbating the problem.
The residents expressed deep disappointment with their Member of Parliament, Hon. Desmond Degraft Paitoo, accusing him of neglecting their concerns and failing to fulfill campaign promises.
They warned that if he doesn’t take action, they won’t welcome him back into the community.
The protesters are demanding immediate construction of a proper drainage system and improvement of the road infrastructure to alleviate their suffering.
The Zongo Chief, Saliki Ibrahim Alhassan, echoed the residents’ concerns, emphasizing the need for urgent attention to address the flooding issue.
