Bremanhene Slams Former Suame MCE Over Neglect of Traditional Leadership
The Chief of Breman, Baffuor Kotei Koteng Saman II, has strongly criticized former Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, for neglecting traditional leadership during his tenure.
The Bremanhene expressed his disappointment during a courtesy visit by the new Suame MCE, Frank Owusu Ansah, who was appointed under the current NDC administration.
According to the Bremanhene, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye never visited his palace during his five-year tenure as MCE, despite being appointed by President Akufo-Addo. Instead, Boakye’s engagements were limited to attending funerals, which the chief found particularly troubling.

The Bremanhene emphasized the crucial role traditional rulers play in local governance and development, warning against attempts by political appointees to sideline chiefs in decision-making processes. “Nananom in Suame play a major role because we are the representatives of the Asantehene,” he stated.
“If you, as MCE, decide to gather a small group of people around you and don’t involve us, then you’re doomed to fail.
In contrast to his predecessor, Frank Owusu Ansah paid a courtesy call to the Bremanhene to formally introduce himself and outline his vision for development in the area.
The Bremanhene appreciated the gesture, describing it as unprecedented. Ansah also pledged to construct a health center for the Breman community and donated 40 bags of cement to support the completion of the Breman Palace.
The new MCE emphasized his commitment to fostering collaboration with traditional authorities, community members, and other stakeholders to accelerate socio-economic development in the municipality.
The Bremanhene, in turn, expressed his willingness to support Ansah’s development agenda and offered to provide the necessary land for the proposed health facility.
