Bolgatanga Technical Institute Closed Indefinitely After Violent Student Unrest

The Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) has been shut down indefinitely following a violent student riot that left parts of the school in flames. The disturbances, which began late on Thursday, August 14, and continued into the early hours of Friday, August 15, resulted in the destruction of the school’s library and the senior housemaster’s office.

The cause of the unrest remains unknown, with both police and school authorities yet to issue an official statement. Education officials have ordered the closure to safeguard students, staff, and school property while investigations are carried out.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. However, the full extent of the damage to the affected buildings has not yet been determined. Authorities are working to assess the damage and ensure the school can resume normal operations once the investigations are complete.

The closure has sparked concerns about student safety and the need for a thorough investigation into the incident. As the situation unfolds, parents and students are eagerly awaiting updates on when classes might resume.
