Asantehene Urges Investment in Energy Sector for 24-Hour Economy.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on investors to support Ghana’s energy sector, emphasizing its crucial role in the success of the government’s proposed 24-hour economy.

Speaking during a meeting with officials from Dream Power Africa, a solar energy company, at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, May 21, the Asantehene emphasized that sustainable and reliable energy is a fundamental requirement for national development.

“The government has been promoting the idea of a 24-hour economy. But for that to work, electricity must be consistently available — especially in rural areas. Industries rely on energy to operate efficiently,” Otumfuo noted.

“When energy needs are met, it creates a strong foundation for the broader development of the country.”

24-Hour Economy as a National Policy
The 24-hour economy was a central policy proposal of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 election campaign.

It aims to boost productivity and employment by encouraging businesses and public institutions to operate around the clock in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, ICT, and healthcare.
