Agyare Foundation Donates Food Items, Installs Information Centre to Support Muslims in Offinso During Ramadan

The Muslim community at the Central Mosque in Saaboa Zongo, located in the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has received a significant boost as the UK-based Agyare Family, through the Agyare Foundation, donated assorted food items to support members of the community during the ongoing Ramadan fasting period.

The humanitarian gesture, which took place at the mosque premises, forms part of the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting social cohesion, particularly during important religious observances.

Items presented to the mosque included bags of sugar, loaves of bread, packs of milk and Lipton tea, all intended to assist Muslim families as they observe the holy month of Ramadan — a period marked by fasting, prayer, reflection and acts of charity.

In addition to the food donation, the Agyare Foundation also installed a new community information centre for the Saaboa Zongo community.

The facility is expected to enhance communication within the area by serving as a platform through which important announcements, community programmes and public information can be disseminated to residents.

Speaking to the media during the presentation ceremony, the Project Coordinator of the Agyare Foundation, James Nkansah, explained that the initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader vision of supporting communities not only through humanitarian assistance but also through developmental interventions.

According to him, the foundation recognizes the importance of Ramadan in the lives of Muslims and believes it is essential to stand with the community during such a spiritually significant period.

Mr. Nkansah noted that the installation of the information centre was equally important as it would serve as a communication hub for the community, ensuring that residents remain informed about important social activities, development programmes and community announcements.

He further used the opportunity to encourage the youth in the area to embrace unity, peace and communal harmony, stressing that the progress of every community largely depends on the collective efforts and cooperation of its members.

The donated items were officially received on behalf of the mosque by the Assembly Member for the Saaboa Electoral Area, Issa Khalifa, together with the Committee Chairman, Urma Mahmoud.

Expressing their profound gratitude to the Agyare Family and the foundation, they described the gesture as timely and impactful, especially at a time when many Muslim families are observing the month-long fasting period.

They indicated that the food items would go a long way to support several households within the community as they prepare their meals for the daily breaking of the fast.

The community leaders also commended the foundation for installing the information centre, describing the initiative as a major step toward improving communication and strengthening community organization within Saaboa Zongo.

They further appealed to other benevolent individuals, corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations to emulate the example of the Agyare Foundation by extending support to vulnerable communities, particularly during religious and festive periods.

Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting from dawn to sunset, increased prayer, charity and reflection.

Acts of generosity and community support during this period are widely regarded as essential expressions of faith and compassion.

The intervention by the Agyare Foundation therefore not only provided immediate relief to the Muslim community in Offinso but also reinforced the spirit of unity, compassion and social responsibility that defines the holy month.
