Accra Archdiocese Announces Major Pastoral Reshuffle, Over 40 Priests Reassigned

The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has announced a comprehensive list of priestly appointments and transfers, set to take effect on September 17, 2025.

The directive, issued by the Metropolitan Archbishop, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp., involves over 40 priests, including parish priests, assistant priests, priests-in-charge, and those assuming administrative or academic responsibilities.

The new appointments affect several parishes across the Archdiocese, including Dansoman, Osu, Odorkor, Kotobabi, Mamprobi, Kwashieman, Nungua, Adenta, Lashibi, Ashaiman, Ashongman, Tema, and Pokuase, among others.

The changes are aimed at boosting pastoral effectiveness, ensuring rotational leadership, and addressing the pastoral needs of the growing Catholic population in the region.

In addition to the pastoral appointments and transfers, the Archdiocese of Accra has announced a number of special assignments and academic releases aimed at strengthening the Church’s pastoral and administrative capacity.

Fr. Hillary Agbenosi has been appointed as the Assistant Financial Administrator of the Archdiocese.

Fr. Elvis Mensah has been granted release for Fidei Donum in New York, USA

Fr. Joy Ofori-Kumeni is set for further studies in Rome

Fr. Samuel Ebo Hymore has also been released to undertake advanced academic training in Ghana.
