Talitakum Network Educates New Konkronpe SHS Students on Human Trafficking Dangers.
Atebubu-Amantin Municipality, Ghana – A team from Talitakum Network, in collaboration with the African Faith and Justice Network (AFJN), conducted an awareness creation program on human trafficking at New Konkronpe Senior High School.
The program, held in the school’s assembly hall, aimed to educate students on the dangers of human trafficking and its prevalence in the region.
The team, comprising Sr. Ignitia Boabeng, Sr. Linda Ojawuri, Sr. Bertha Apenu, and Mr. Michael Lateh, interacted with approximately 1,300 students and teachers.
The interactive session provided students with the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences.
Notably, some students shared instances of their peers being trapped in Kumasi and Techiman by Q-net, highlighting the relevance and timeliness of the program.
The team advised students to be cautious of strangers promising them jobs or better living conditions, and to never travel without informing their parents or guardians.
“Verify any opportunity or offer through proper channels, and never give out personal documents or money to anyone,” Sr. Ignitia Boabeng emphasized.
“Remember, if an opportunity sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” Mr. Michael Lateh added.
The team encouraged students to prioritize their safety and well-being, and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The program received overwhelming support from teachers and students alike, with participants expressing gratitude for the awareness created.
The team was encouraged to visit other schools to spread the message, as many people fall victim to human trafficking due to lack of knowledge.
