26-year-old Fetish Priest Arrested for Allegedly Impregnating a 15-year-old Minor
Somanya – Police have arrested Ebenezer Asumah, a 26-year-old fetish priest residing in Sawer-Sum in Somanya, following allegations of rape involving a 15-year-old girl.
The arrest, made on October 23rd, 2025, comes after a formal complaint was lodged with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Akuse.
According to police reports, the complainant, identified as Animo Mavis, a 27-year-old seamstress and relative of the victim, reported the alleged crime after the minor fell ill.
The victim, who resides with her grandmother, Florence Ladjer, in the same area as Asumah, was subsequently diagnosed with pregnancy at the Hospital in Somanya.
The investigation, led by D/PW/INSPR. Leticia Acheampomaa, revealed that on August 5th, 2025, Asumah allegedly convinced the victim’s grandmother to allow the girl to assist him with cooking at his home.
He reportedly claimed to be injured and in need of help. Ladjer, feeling sympathetic, permitted her to assist him.
Police reports indicate that she prepared a meal of banku, pepper, and fish for Asumah. Following the meal, Asumah allegedly locked the victim in his room and proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her.
The act, according to the victim’s statement, occurred on three separate occasions.
After the victim became ill, Mavis took her to Somanya Hospital on October 22nd, 2025, where the pregnancy was confirmed. During questioning by the complainant, the victim identified Asumah as the individual responsible.
This prompted Mavis to file a formal complaint with DOVVSU Akuse.
Following the filing of the complaint, a police medical report form was issued, and the victim was taken to the Akuse Government Hospital for further examination.
Medical professionals confirmed that she was approximately 11 weeks pregnant.
Upon his arrest, Asumah reportedly admitted to the sexual acts in his cautionary statement. However, he claimed that she had consented to the relationship.
This claim is directly contradicted by the victim’s statement and the fact that she is a minor, rendering her legally incapable of providing consent.
Asumah has been formally charged with the alleged rape of a minor and has been presented before the court.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses through the legal system.
The case has sparked outrage within the Somanya community, highlighting the vulnerability of minors and the importance of protecting them from abuse.
In summary, the arrest of Ebenezer Asumah, a fetish priest, on charges of allegedly raping a minor has sent shockwaves through Sawer-Sum.
The case underscores the critical need for safeguarding children and holding perpetrators of sexual abuse accountable.
The legal proceedings will be closely monitored as the community seeks justice for the victim and aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.
