The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has disclosed a concerning statistic, revealing that 2,436 teenage pregnancies were recorded in the Upper East Region between January and May 2025.

This alarming figure was shared during a meeting attended by women, stakeholders, and health officials, who gathered to address pressing health issues affecting women in the region.

The sheer volume of teenage pregnancies within such a short timeframe has sparked widespread concern, with attendees unanimously resolving to launch intensive education campaigns across the region to curb this trend.

Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Bulsa-South Constituency, expressed deep worry over the issue and pledged to collaborate with the Health Sector to mitigate the crisis and empower young females to complete their education.

The figures highlight a critical public health and social challenge that demands immediate attention and concerted efforts from all stakeholders to protect the future of the region’s youth.

By working together, it’s possible to address this issue and ensure that young females have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
